It should be noted that the definition of the word "Fund" in this connection is neither a stock exchange-listed instrument nor a separate legal entity, but is a pool of the combined investments of a number of investors.

A Fund Manager is an experienced and qualified professional who work full-time researching and selecting the investments for a fund. This commitment is a major asset to investors who are not able to research and monitor their investments personally. Fund Managers also undertake all administrative functions, such as tracking and accounting for investments.

A managed fund is an investment portfolio under the direction of a manager who invests the fund's capital in a variety of investments. The mix and type of investments in the portfolio depends on the fund's mandate, communicated to investors by the fund manager. Managed funds are usually designed around specific investment styles such as volatile, high risk funds or low risk funds that try to provide a moderate but consistent income.

Managed FX Funds have been developed to allow investors to benefit from the fast moving foreign exchange markets. The fund invests in currencies and seeks profits from the relative movement of one currency against another. Unlike certain other funds investing in equities or bonds, managed FX funds can be more speculative. However, the Forex Premium Managed FX Fund applies a rather cautious approach and seeks to return a monthly gross performance of 1.0%.
